El viernes pasado fui a la ENDF ( Escuela Nacional de Danza Folklorica, eso creo ) fui a apoyar a Ivan y a ver lo que sus compañeros de escuela habían preparado para una serie de performances con motivo de día de muertos, aunque la organización no fue la mejor, vi cosas muuuy interesantes, velas en barcos de papel, gente envuelta en papel plástico, ataudes de vidrio roto y sobre todo pude tener la oportunidad de sentirme orgulloso de mi amigo, nunca lo habia visto bailar algo que no fuera folklorico y es muy bueno. Por motivos de iluminación y respeto ( no quería usar mi flash para no deshacerles el mood que crearon en los salones ) no pude tomar muchas fotos, aunque salieron algunas en movimiento muuuy interesantes como la que publique anteriormente. Ese día presenté a Ivan con Darwin, Darwin se puso celoso, pero en realidad no me extraña, asi es él, después de darle todos los wereabouts se tranquilizo, espero que se lleven bien por que ambos son muy importantes para mi en este momento.

Espero que pare el sangrado

Me acabo de cortar el dedo, tengo como cinco curitas y algodón alrededor de mi dedo indice, estaba preparando un cuadro de papel cortado que me acaban de comprar y se supone que debo empezar otro, espero que el sangrado se detenga para poder seguir trabajando y no tener que ir al médico, no creo que sea tan grave.. ojala y no.

World Press Photo, Massive Attack e Isabel Allende

Un poco para romper la rutina fuí a la exposición de World Press Photo al museo Franz Mayer, recomendable, solo que el espacio es muy pequeño y para poderlas apreciar se tuvieron que hacer ampliaciones no más grandes de 11 x 14, algunas fotos bastante impresionantes, crudas y emotivas, mi favorita es en la que un niño abrocha los botones de la camisa de su padre quien quedo sin brazos, me tuvo observandola por diez minutos, todo en esa foto es perfecto incluyendo la emotividad. Escogí de mi Ipod las canciones de Massive Attack para que me acompañaran durante el recorrido de la exposición, la música de Massive Attack es mi favorita cuando hay que caminar por la ciudad, es el soundtrack perfecto porque los bits marcan el paso de las personas alrededor y de uno mismo. De camino al museo y de regreso comenzé a leer un libro que me regalaron, La Ciudad de las Bestias de Isabel Allende, había oido hablar mucho de ella, sobre todo de un amigo de mi antiguo trabajo, nunca la había leido, suelo alejarme de las cosas que son muy populares como lo es este libro y los demás que ha escrito.. prefiero encontrar tesoros ocultos y extraños, como el libro de Tim Burton o los libros de Marjan Satrapi. El libro me esta gustando e hice algo que no hacía en mucho tiempo, subrayar frases del libro que me gustan.. esta es la primera " Hay dos clases de problemas, los que se arreglan solos y los que no tienen solución".

Roadtrip

In a couple of weeks Darwin and I will be heading towards Veracruz, this will be our first roadtrip, well, we didn´t have a car before, I am very exited about the idea even though we know nothing about fixing cars in case this breaks or even change a tire ( I kind of remember ). We have to choose the places we want to visit, we will repeat the rapidos experience and will go to visit his family in the middle of nowhere, ofcourse I will take my camera and the computer so I can take as many pictures as I want, I hope to see some amazing handcrafts. I guess we need to be together and alone to make our relationship stronger. Any suggestions are welcome. This is turning out to be a good year, talking about experiences, again, not much money but I am rich.

Beautiful books

I love Jamie Oliver´s cooking books, the have amazing recipies, but most of all they are so beautifully done that I go through them like if they were photography books. He has a new one on the market. Which I will buy (eventually). Seen people with such pasion about what they do is inspiring.

Me repatean las personas que no conoces que entran a tu blog ( no que me importe que entre gente que no conozco ) con aires de psicologo tratando de hacer una análisis y darte un consejo que naaaaaaadie les pide, quien se creen. Un comentario padre, jocoso, de way to go, siempre es apreciado, pero como puso una amiga en su blog, respeten mi psique psicologos frustrados.

Esta semana trataré de obtener algo gratis todos los días, algo por lo que regularmente te cobren pero por que por algún motivo es gratis. Hoy fuí a ver la exposición de Mario Testino al museo de San Idelfonso, entrada $0.00, grandiosas fotografías, por el tamaño y la calidad, bueno, casi todas, la composición en las grupales es genial, y los fuera de foco maravillosos, desafortunadamente mi favorita no esta online para ponerla en el blog pero esta de principe Harry es maravillosa (imaginenla de dos metros ), y bueno, el libro esta un poco caro, se lo pediré a los reyes magos a ver si se apiadan de mi, recomendable 100%. Es extraño ver como las personas ven las fotografías como si ojearan un album familiar, comentando, mira.. Kate Moss, ahi esta Madonna con su hija Lourdes, mira la tía Naomi Campbell tanto tiempo sin verla, el compadre Brad Pitt, mira....

What's on my fridge?

Well recently people has been saying that I look good, recovered ( from what? stress? ), meaning that don't look as slim as I used to, and maybe because of that I look healthy, another way of seeing it is that I am fatter than I used to be, which is not so good, when you are over 30 is not so easy to let go of this extra baggage, so I went to my fridge and this is what I found, top shelf full of beer, regular and light, well it is not always like that, we had company, but still who is going to drink it?, medium shelves a slice of pizza a coke, milk for 40 year olds ( is not unusual to be loved by anyone ), some cream, tortillas and engrudo ( that I dont eat ) and big coke and other softdrinks, and at the bottom, vegetables, but those are for Darwin to eat over the week. And on the top a piece of cake, ice and plenty of ice pops which we loooove. So that is why I am chubbier... so as soon as I finish all this, I will start eating better.. wanna a beer?

Bringing back the old me

I have been given up some things to be able to make my relationship work, but I have decided I will bring them back, I need the old me, the independent, little selfish, old me. So that is my new quest. Starting right now.

So, it turns out that Darwin did not come in 3 hours, so I went to my parent's house and talk them into going to this Butho dance performance in the Diego Rivera's museum, a friend told me that he would come with me, but it was too late to ask him, besides he just got a new boyfriend and I did not want to bother him, we couldn't wait for Darwin to arrive since the show was at the other side of the city. It was raining and the show was going to take place outdoors, it was freezing but all was worth it as soon as the cello started playing making music along with the water splashing on the floor that by that time was completely black, the pyramid became the background for this japanesse contemporary dance, even though it was rainning the four dancers were great, all dressed in white, making odd dance moves and sounds. It was good, I bet that the one that was shown in the Cervantino festival was amazing. I hope the come to the city so I can go there as well.

Bailes Hipnoticos

Hoy tuve la grandiosa oportunidad de ver danzas mexicanas por horas y horas, se me estaba secando el cerebro con tanto trabajo creativo y me alegra decir que estoy totalmente recargado. Tengo un hermano postizo que estudia en el INBA, y sabe un chorro, me fascina entender que los grandes pañuelos que salen de las mangas representan la sangre derramada, o que los listones que cuelgan de la espalda representan la lluvia, o que ciertos movimientos o pasos de baile representan el viento. Hay danzas muy espectaculares tipo concierto de Madonna que no sabes para donde voltear por tanto color y movimiento, y danzas muy simples casi hipnoticas donde la música se repite una y otra vez y los pasos son los mismos con ligeras variaciones ( no me hagan mucho caso con lo de las ligeras variaciones que no se mucho de esto ). Mi hermano postizo me dijo " En realidad los bailes no se hacen para recibir aplausos o reconocimentos ", refiriendose a la gente que los hace en sus pueblos. Sacó el baile de mi cabeza del contexto show al contexto devoción. Me subió al escritorio del pofesor para ver las cosas desde otro punto de vista ( vease La sociedad de los poetas muertos ). Me hizo feliz. Doy las gracias a quien sea que debo dar las gracias por seguir poniendo gente fascinante en mi camino.

Although I am yet to find the best way to take a picture of this 3D paper handcrafts, this is part of the work I have been doing, they have lots of little details that I will need to take at least 5 pictures of each so you can see them, for example the Catrina in Chanel has see through paper at end of the sleeve, neck and the end of the skirt like one of the greates creations of Karl Lagerfeld, In the one with the little santo there is underwear hanging to be dry, and all the flowers and leaves were glued one by one ( I never thought I would be able to do that). I am still working on more of this, the thing is that when I am in the process of doing one, another idea comes up and I start the other a soon as I finish the first one, although the background is causing problems.. Enjoy.

I have been working non-stop all this week making cuadros de papel recortado, like de one that I made before, the esqueleto de alebrije, from time to time I stop for a second and I think, What the hell am I doing this for?, then I ingnore myself and continue working, I haven´t worked this hard for a loooong time, I have to take advantage of this sudden burst of creativity, I do not know why I am doing this for, but I feel I have to continue.. so I´ll get back to it.
